Barbed Fish Injures Jersey Shore Swimmer: Beach Patrol
A man was injured by what appeared to be a ray's tail at a beach in Ventnor City, officials said. The man suffered a hand injury at around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 25, the Ventnor City Beach Patrol said. He received first-aid treatment at the scene. The injury was not confirmed to be from a shark bite and was likely caused by a skate, which is a type of ray with barbs on its tail. Jersey Shore Toll Bridge Apologizes For Double-Charging Some Drivers
You might want to check your credit card statement if you recently took a popular bridge to get to Margate. In a Facebook post, the Downbeach Express said it double-charged some customers on Thursday, June 27. The privately owned toll bridge between Northfield and Margate charges drivers $2.50 each way or $1.85 for Express Pass users. The most iconic part of Atlantic City is getting tens of millions of dollars in upgrades. But many millions more are needed to fully repair the Atlantic City Boardwalk. Jersey Shore Boardwalks Get $100M For 'Vital' Upgrades
Jersey Shore communities are getting $100 million in state grants to make crucial repairs to their boardwalk, officials said. The Boardwalk Preservation Fund money will go to 18 municipalities in Atlantic, Cape May, Middlesex, Monmouth, and Ocean counties, Gov. Phil Murphy announced on Friday, Feb. 23. The state Department of Community Affairs (NJDCA) will give out the funds to invest in "state-of-the-art materials that increase storm resiliency and ensure longer lasting infrastructure." Kayleigh Ann Cocozza of Ventnor City died on Feb. 3, 2023 in Atlantic City, her obituary says. She was 34 years old. According to her obituary, Kayleigh had been working as a waitress since getting her GED "but had so much more potential than time allowed." At least four people have joined a class-action lawsuit filed against a North Jersey company accused of selling bogus COVID-19 tests in at least one South Jersey location, NorthJersey.com reports.
