Pedestrian Struck, Killed While Crossing Route 9 A pedestrian was struck and killed in a crash on Route 9, authorities said. At 7:51 p.m. on Sunday, Sept., a Honda Civic operated by a Howell Township resident was traveling southbound on Route 9 in the area of Strickland Road when the vehicle struck a Howell Township resident who was crossing Route 9 South from west to east, Howell police said. The pedestrian was taken to Centra State Medical Center for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. Jersey Shore Crash Blocks Route 9 (Developing) A crash during rush-hour blocked part of Route 9 on the Jersey Shore, according to developing and unconfirmed reports.  The crash occurred at about 5:30 p.m. on Monday, May 2, on Route 9 northbound near Strickland Road in Howell Township, initial reports said.
