The operator aboard an 18-foot disabled vessel used a VHF-FM radio to contact Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay watchstanders Saturday afternoon, Oct. 7, requesting assistance getting to shore in Great Bay, Little Egg Harbor (scroll for video). The U.S. Coast Guard rescued two boaters after their vessel ran aground off the coast of Ocean County, authorities said. Coast Guard watchstanders received an initial radio alert Monday night, April 3, and tried to make callbacks but were unsuccessful, they said in a press statement. The U.S. Coast Guard, along with state and local responders, rescued five people from the water after their personal boat capsized at the entrance to Barnegat Inlet, authorities said. At approximately 6:57 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7 watchstanders at Sector Delaware Bay were informed that a vessel had capsized, stranding six people in the water. Barge Fire Breaks Out In Delaware Bay
The Coast Guard and local fire agencies responded to a barge fire approximately 9 miles south of Port Mahon. There were six fire boats from local fire agencies actively fighting the fire. Watchstanders at the Sector Delaware Bay Command Center received a call at approximately 1 a.m. Monday, May 23 reporting a barge on fire in the Delaware River. Seven fishermen were rescued by members of the U.S. Coast Guard as bad weather moved into the Jersey Shore Sunday afternoon. Crew members of the 40-foot sport fishing boat activated their Emergency Position Indicating Radio Beacon (EPIRB) from approximately 69 miles off the coast of Cape May around 1:20 p.m., the Coast Guard said in a statement. Members of the U.S. Coast Guard rescued a pair of duck hunters stranded on an island in Little Egg Inlet in Brigantine Tuesday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay received a call from Sea Tow around 3 p.m., that the hunters had their boat on the island, but were unable to get it to back, Coast Guard officials said. The U.S. Coast Guard rescued two fishermen after their boat caught fire approximately 34 miles off the Jersey Shore Thursday (click here for video). U.S. Coast Guard members from Atlantic City coordinated the rescue of a stranded dolphin Thursday in Sea Isle City. "The quick thinking of the reporting source made a lot of difference," said Petty Officer 2nd Class Krysten Kasprzyk, a watchstander with Sector Delaware Bay.
