Fires Prompt Recall Of E-Bike Batteries Sold On Amazon, Walmart Tens of thousands of lithium-ion batteries sold with electric bicycles have been recalled due to fire and burn hazards. VIVI has issued the recall for about 24,000 lithium-ion batteries for e-bikes, the Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on Thursday, July 17. The batteries can overheat, increasing the risk of injury or death. At least 14 incidents have been reported, including three fires. No injuries have been reported, according to the CPSC. The store at Newport Centre announced a store closing sale on Friday evening, Jan. 5 on Facebook. A voice answering service said the store was closed when Daily Voice called Friday at 7 p.m. Daily Voice has reached out to the Simon Property Group, who owns Newport Centre, and Sears corporate for comment. The Sears stores at the Livingston Mall and on Route 1 in New Brunswick are expected to close mid-April, a company spokesperson said. "After careful review, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to close the Sears stores in Livingston and New Brunswick," the spokesperson said in a statement.  "We encourage customers to continue shopping on Sears.com for all their product needs."
