A Vineland woman is facing homicide charges after fatally striking a 21-year-old woman who authorities say she knew before leaving the scene last month in Millville. Caroline Bump was standing on Glenside Road when she was allegedly hit by a speeding, silver 2003 Infiniti, driven by 22-year-old Breanna Rowley on the night of Oct. 22, 21-year-old, Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae said. Bystander Saves Cop From 'Guillotine' Chokehold During Unruly NJ Mall Patron's Arrest
A bystander came to the aid of a South Jersey police officer who was put in a "guillotine" style chokehold by a disorderly mall patron he was trying to arrest over the weekend, authorities said. Michael Carberry was harassing shoppers at the Deptford Mall around 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 19, bringing police to the scene, Deptford Police Chief Joe Smith said. South Jersey Man Arrested In Swatting Incidents
A 28-year-old man from South Jersey has been arrested in connection with a series of "swatting" calls made from a motel room to businesses over the summer, authorities said. Rakim D. Anderson of Willingboro was charged with 13 counts of false public alarm after a three-month investigation, according to Monroe Township police. Between June 23 and July 20, the Gloucester County Emergency Response Center received numerous false and unfounded calls — commonly known as swatting — reporting a person with a gun that was going to shoot themselves, police said.
