Power Knocked Out For 3K+ Customers In Central Jersey
More than 3,000 customers were without power in Monmouth County after a substation caught fire, officials said.
A substation fire at the entrance to Sandy Hook caused the outage on Monday, Apr. 8, Atlantic Highlands police said in a Facebook post. Route 36 crossings in Atlantic Highlands were temporarily closed.
According to Jersey Central Power & Light's outage map, power was lost for 2,414 customers in Middletown, 1,044 customers in Atlantic Highlands, and nine customers in Highlands as of 5:30 p.m.

Powerball Ticket Worth $50K Sold At Jersey Shore Gas Station
A winning Powerball ticket worth $50,000 was sold in Monmouth County, officials said.
The New Jersey Lottery said the ticket was purchased at the BP gas station on Route 36 in West Long Branch. The ticket matched four numbers and the Powerball in the drawing on Monday, Jan. 29
The winning numbers were 39, 41, 43, 49, and 64. The Powerball was 4.
No one matched all six numbers to win the estimated jackpot of $175 million. Tickets worth $1 million were sold in California, South Carolina, and Texas.

Woman Fatally Struck By Car In Jersey Shore Town
A woman was fatally struck by a car at the Jersey Shore overnight, authorities said.
The woman, whose identity was not released as of press time, was struck at the intersection of Route 36 and Atlantic Street in Keyport, just before 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said.

A Monmouth County man has been arrested and charged with promoting the prostitution of a teenager at a Tinton Falls motel, along with numerous other crimes, authorities said.
Jerome L. Harbour, 41, is charged with first-degree promoting prostitution of a child, criminal sexual contact, child endangerment, hindering apprehension, obstruction of justice, and drug offenses, according to Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago.
