Middletown Route 35 Closed, Pole Fire, Wires Down
Route 35 in Monmouth County was closed in both directions at rush-hour due to power lines down, authorities said. All lanes were closed between Harmony Road and New Monmouth Road in Middletown starting at about 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday because of electric poles on fire, reports said. Northbound lanes were reopened about 4:15 p.m. but southbound lanes remained closed. It was not immediately known what caused the emergency. This is a developing news story. CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES

Severe Storms Close Roads, Knock Down Trees, Wires In Central Jersey
Firefighters, police and EMS crews responded to numerous storm-related calls on Thursday afternoon in Middlesex and Monmouth counties, authorities said. High winds and heavy rain were blamed for the closure of Davidson's Mill Road in South Brunswick Township and live power lines down in Keyport, Millstone, Old Bridge Township, Woodbridge Township, Matawan as well as Edison and Middletown -- where there also were initial unconfirmed reports of trees falling on several homes.
