Pedestrian Critical After Struck By Vehicle On Route 9: Prosecutor
A 77-year-old Howell Township man is in critical condition after he was struck by a vehicle on Route 9 on the early morning of Tuesday, Jan. 7, authorities said. At 4:51 a.m., Howell Township police responded to Route 9 and Strickland Road after a driver, who was traveling southbound in the right lane of Route 9, collided with the man, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said. The man remains hospitalized with multiple injuries, Santiago said. The driver remained on scene and was cooperative with law enforcement officers, Santiago said.

School Crossing Guard Dies Protecting Students In South Jersey Crash, Police Say
A Burlington City school crossing guard was killed while shielding two children from an oncoming car, authorities said. Bruce Morlack, 74, died in the crash on Friday, Dec. 6, the City of Burlington Police Department said in a news release. A person was struck by a New Jersey Transit train in Monmouth County, officials said. North Jersey Coast Line rail service was suspended in both directions between Red Bank and Long Branch, NJ Transit said on Twitter at 2:22 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8. Bicyclist Hit By Vehicle, Killed In Central Jersey: Prosecutors
A bicyclist was hit by a vehicle and killed in a crash in Holmdel, authorities said. Holmdel police responded to the wreck on Bethany Road on Monday, Aug. 12, a spokesperson for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office said. The crash happened near the intersection with Galway Drive just before 8 a.m. The 65-year-old Holmdel man was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Howell police captured a man who crashed his vehicle into one of their cars and then tried to flee on foot, authorities said.
