Pedestrian Killed In Jersey Shore Crosswalk Was Guyanese Swimmer
A 34-year-old swimmer visiting from Guyana — or the "Land of Many Waters" — was struck and killed by a vehicle while in a crosswalk in Freehold Township, authorities said. Robert Taylor was struck by a southbound driver on Route 9 at Schibanoff Lane on Monday, Jan. 9 around 7 a.m., according to authorities and those who knew Taylor. Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene. Taylor was a mentor with the Guyana Amateur Swimming Association. Pedestrian Critically Hurt Outside Of Crosswalk On Jersey Shore: Police
A pedestrian was critically hurt in a crash on the Jersey Shore, authorities said. At 9:31 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 10, Toms River police and EMS units were dispatched to the intersection of Route 37 and River Drive. The initial investigation revealed that a 42 male from Lodi stepped into traffic, outside of the crosswalk, and was hit by a vehicle traveling eastbound, police said. There were no signs of impairment on the driver, who remained at the scene, police said. Pedestrian Killed In Crosswalk On Jersey Shore
A 34-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle while in a crosswalk in Freehold Township, authorities said. The man was visiting from Guyana, Freehold police said. Police responded to the crash at about 7 a.m. Monday, Jan. 9 at the intersection of Route 9 southbound and Schibanoff Lane. A driver going south in the right lane of Route 9 struck the man, police said. The pedestrian, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene. Lakewood Woman Struck, Killed Outside Church Food Pantry
Police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred outside a Lakewood church food pantry. Dilcia Maribell Guevara-Tabora, 46, of Lakewood, was sitting on the curb near Saint Vincent de Paul Food Pantry when she was struck at about 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 15, Lakewood police said. Two girls who were not related to the woman were injured. A minivan was making a turn in the parking lot when the fatal crash occurred. The driver, a 40-year-old Lakewood man, was ticketed for careless driving.

Pedestrians were struck by a vehicle on the Jersey Shore, authorities said. 'Person' Struck, Killed By Train In Passaic
Authorities on Tuesday were trying to identify a person struck and killed overnight by a commuter train in Passaic. The No. 1101 Main Line train left Hoboken -- bound for Suffern, NY -- shortly after 1:30 a.m. The pedestrian was struck at the Passaic station around 2 a.m. There were no injuries to the six customers or crew on board. NJ TRANSIT police were investigating. They not only hadn't identified the victim as of mid-morning on Tuesday. They didn't have a gender or approximate age. "It's still under investigation," said Emma Wright, NJT's senior public information officer.

A pedestrian was struck and killed early Tuesday, Aug. 16, authorities said. The crash occurred at about 6:15 a.m. on Route 37 near Hooper Avenue, Toms River police said. Authorities have identified a pedestrian who was struck and killed in Atlantic County. Robert McClernan, 60, of Mays Landing, was hit by a Fiat 500L traveling east on Route 322/Black Horse Pike in Folsom, New Jersey State Police said. The crash occurred at about 10:15 p.m. Monday, July 4. The car hit McClernan as he entered the roadway, police said. He died of his injuries. The driver, who was not hurt, stopped and remained at the scene, police said. The crash remains under investigation.
