Jersey Shore Woman Who Sold Opioids, Meth Across NJ Sentenced
An Ocean County woman will spend time in prison after admitting to selling opioids and methamphetamine across New Jersey, authorities said.
Laurie Maxson, 54, of Barnegat, was sentenced on Friday, Apr. 12 to three years in state prison, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced in a news release. She pleaded guilty on Monday, Jan. 29 to conspiracy to distribute more than five ounces of methamphetamine.

A Monmouth County man will remain in jail after he was accused of trying to kidnap a teen girl and groping a woman in a Target parking lot during a two-county crime spree, authorities said.
Quamel Benton, 35, of Farmingdale, was ordered by a judge on Wednesday, Apr. 10 to remain in Burlington County Jail through his trial, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said in a news release. The New Jersey Lottery said the $50,000 Powerball ticket was sold at the ShopRite on Route 70 in Manchester. The ticket matched four numbers and the Powerball in the drawing on Saturday, Apr. 6.

Three people were accused of selling several types of drugs throughout Ocean County, authorities said.
William Manser, 44, and Jacquelyn Smith, 33, both of Berkeley Township, and Justina Candelaria, 44, of Barnegat, were arrested, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said in a news release on Friday, Apr. 5. Their arrests came after a monthlong investigation into drugs sold in the county.
