Authorities renewed a public plea for help finding a Garfield man who’s been missing for more than two months. Leon Gathers, 42, was last seen leaving his home near the corner of Harrison Avenue and Williams Street on Feb. 16, Police Capt. Mario Pozo said. Gathers, who doesn’t own or operate a vehicle, was walking, the captain said. He was wearing an orange “Champion" hoodie, blue jeans and tan work boots, Pozo said. It's coming up on four years since anyone has said they'd seen Jeremy Levin Coward of Paterson. Coward was staying with his grandmother when he began to feel ill and went to the hospital, loved ones said. He called her soon after to tell her he was being discharged. Then he was gone. Ten days passed before loved ones reported Coward missing on April 15, 2019. Family members said Coward was deeply religious, attending church on Sundays and Bible study on Wednesdays. Toms River Man Found Dead In Water: Prosecutor
The body of a Toms River man reported missing was found in a body of water on Thursday, March 28, authorities said. John Applegate, also known as “Bubby," was found in an area of water between Lakehurst Road and Route 37, after having been missing since Friday, March 24, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer said. His body was found by a family friend who had volunteered to assist with the search. Applegate's body was taken to Community Medical Center pending a post-mortem examination. Authorities seek the public's help finding John Applegate, also known as “Bubby.” Applegate. He was last seen on Thursday, March 23, in Toms River between Community Medical Center and the Garden State Parkway, according to the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office. Missing NJ State Trooper Found Safe In Pennsylvania
A 46-year-old New Jersey State Trooper who went missing last weekend has been found safe, authorities said. Jason Dare was last seen walking away from a health facility in Media, PA, (Delaware County) on Sunday, March 19 at about 7 p.m., according to New Jersey State Police. In a social media post on Friday, March 24, State Police reported that Dare had been found safe in Pennsylvania. Dare's LinkedIn profile shows he apparently lives in Vineland, NJ. Severely decomposed remains found at the foot of the Palisades apparently are those of an Alaskan man whose van was left with a suicide note at the top of the cliffs more than eight months ago, authorities said. A search has been launched for a 22-year-old Central Jersey woman who has been missing for weeks, maybe months, authorities said. Veronica McLean's friend reported her missing in late October, after not hearing for her for quite some time, South Brunswick police said.
