A dolphin died during rescue efforts after it was stuck in a Cape May County creek for more than a week, according to marine biologists. In a Facebook post, The Marine Mammal Stranding Center said the bottlenose dolphin died in Cape May Court House on Friday, May 24. A Cape May County mother was facing charges in the death of her six-month-old son, authorities said. Michelle Stanton, 29, of Lower Township, was charged with second-degree manslaughter and endangering the welfare of a child. Court documents revealed disturbing details about the abuse suffered by five girls for more than five years at the hands of the three adults they had been living within Cape May. A 60-year-old pedestrian from Wildwood was killed in a crash in Cape May County, authorities said. On Wednesday, May 17, at approximately 6:40 a.m., the Middle Township Police Department responded to Fulling Mill Road (Route 654) in the Rio Grande section of Middle Township for a report of a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian. An auto mechanic visiting Wildwood with his family helped save a woman who was drowning, authorities said. Tyree Ward of Philadelphia was hailed as a hero by first responders who later interviewed Ward about his rescue here on Vimeo.
