Kale, Spinach, Collard Green Products Produced In MD Subject To Listeria Recall
A Maryland-based company announced a recall of kale and other similar products that were shipped up and down parts of the East Coast and could be contaminated with Listeria. Lancaster Foods is voluntarily recalling three brands of Robinson Fresh, Lancaster, and Giant brand kale, spinach, and collard green products after a random sample tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes by the New York Agriculture and Markets Food Safety Division. Items subject to the recall were distributed to retailers and distributors in Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. …

A new COVID-19 variant first detected in New York in January has now been identified in 27 states, including New Jersey. The so-called Arcturus strain — officially known as XBB.1.16 — is believed to be one of the most infectious versions of Omicron to date. Hundreds of thousands of Honda SUVs are being recalled due to concerns that road salt could cause the frame of the vehicle to rust and unintentionally detach parts of the rear suspension. Retired Nun Of 67 Years Dies In Parkway Crash
The 88-year-old driver killed in a weekend crash on the Garden State Parkway in Monmouth County was identified as a retired nun of 67 years. Sister Joan Eileen Butler, 88, a Sister of Charity of Saint Elizabeth, died Saturday, Dec. 10, at Bay Shore Medical Center, Holmdel, following the crash. Sister Joan Eileen was born in Jersey City. She entered the Sisters of Charity on Sept. 6, 1955, according to her obituary. Sister Joan Eileen was an educator and served in health ministry in New Jersey and Massachusetts. The first projected snowfall totals have been released for a storm system headed to the region in the second half of the weekend. The system is on track for Sunday, Dec. 11, according to the National Weather Service.
