Antisemitic Graffiti Found At Lakewood Religious Schools, Authorities Say
Antisemitic graffiti was found on two girls' religious schools in Lakewood, authorities said on Friday, Nov. 4. Lakewood Suffers 5th School Bus Crash This Fall, Reports Say
A head-on school bus crash occurred Thursday night in Lakewood, police said. It was at least the firth school bus crash in Lakewood this fall, police said. Two school bus crashes happened on Thursday according to Parch, the fourth and fifth since mid-September. In a crash about 9 p.m. Thursday on River Avenue, a 2019 Ford Expedition collided with a 2020 Dodge Challenger which allegedly struck a school bus head-on, police said. More than 10,000 home owners and businesses in Lakewood were reported to be without electricity about 6:30 p.m., authorities said. Utility company officials could not immediately say why the power went out in Ocean County, but there was speculation that the region's high demand for electricity due to the heat wave may have been a contributing factor. Hundreds Evacuated As Fire Destroys Lakewood Grocery Store, Reports Say
A grocery store in Lakewood was destroyed by fire on Sunday, authorities said. First responders were called to the two-alarm fire at 357 Squankum Road about 4:30 a.m., initial reports said. A two-story building, including Picnic grocery store, was reported fully engulfed by fire when Lakewood police arrived, reports said.
