Cab Driver Carjacked, Slashed In Face Near Howell Park: Police
A cab driver was carjacked and assaulted in Howell on Friday, Jan. 16, authorities said.
At 11:15 p.m., officers responded to Old Tavern Road after the 46-year-old taxi driver, employed by a company in Asbury Park, said he was slashed in the face with a knife by one of two Hispanic men, who then stole his vehicle, Howell police said.
The two men were passengers in his cab traveling from Neptune to a parking lot located directly across from the entrance to Oak Glen Park, police said. The cab driver fled on foot until he was located by officers patrolling the area, police said.

A state grand jury has declined to bring criminal charges against a Fort Lee police officer who shot and killed 25-year-old Victoria G. Lee during a mental health emergency in her apartment last summer, officials said Tuesday, July 15.

A 30-year-old Warren man was arrested and charged on Tuesday, March 18, after he was found to be in possession of a hunting bow and a knife near a middle school in Middlesex, authorities said.
At 11:31 a.m., officers responded to a report of a man, later identified as Robert Villa, with a camouflaged bag used for transporting weapons, trespassing at Von E. Mauger Middle School, Middlesex police said.
