Three-Alarm Fire Guts 4 Condos In Aberdeen
A three-alarm fire damaged four condominiums in Aberdeen early Thursday, Nov. 30, authorities said. The fire broke out at about 3:10 a.m. at Wyndham Condominiums on Winchester Court, according to Aberdeen Police Chief Mattew Lloyd. Four condo units were damaged by the fire, two seriously, Lloyd said. The American Red Cross along with Aberdeen and Monmouth County Office of Emergency Management were assisting the victims, he said. There were no injuries to occupants or first responders. Authorities ID Irvington Kayaker Who Died In Raritan Bay
Police have identified a kayaker who died after being pulled from Raritan Bay. Carlos Melendez, 64, of Irvington, was kayaking with a friend when police were called at about 1:35 p.m. Sunday, July 31, Keyport police said. Police found one kayaker on the shore. That person told police Melendez was still in the water. Officer Chris DeGroat, a member of the Monmouth County dive team, took a kayak and went into the bay and found the man, Keyport police said. Irvington Kayaker Drowns In Raritan Bay
A 64-year-old kayaker and resident of Irvington drowned in Monmouth County, authorities said. At about 1:35 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, Keyport police received a 911 call reporting two kayakers in distress in Raritan Bay. Keyport police arrived and observed one kayaker on the shore, who stated that their friend was still in the water. Officer Degroat, a member of the Monmouth County Dive Team, was able to use a kayak and locate the man in the water. Keyport Fire Department members arrived and used their boat to assist.
