JCP&L To Spend $12.5M On Underwater Power Line Upgrade For NJ Barrier Islands
Jersey Central Power & Light will replace a high-voltage underwater power line in Barnegat Bay to improve reliability for more than 13,000 customers on New Jersey’s barrier islands, officials said. JCP&L will invest $12.5 million to replace an aging underwater power line beneath Barnegat Bay, FirstEnergy Corporation said in a news release on Friday, Nov. 22. Power was knocked out for some residents in a Marlboro Township neighborhood after a rollover crash during the morning commute, officials said. A tractor-trailer crashed into a utility pole in Monmouth County, shutting down a road for more than 12 hours, officials said. Crews responded to the crash on Broadway between Locust Avenue and Route 36 on Thursday, June 6, the West Long Branch Office of Emergency Management posted on Facebook at 4:09 p.m. No injuries were reported in the wreck. A traffic light was down in Holmdel after a crash near an exit for the Garden State Parkway, authorities said. An SUV crashed into a utility pole in Monmouth County, shutting down a road and knocking out power, authorities said. In a Facebook post, Wall Township police said a vehicle hit the pole along Hospital Road at around 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, Apr. 25. No injuries were reported in the crash. More than 2,000 customers were without power in Monmouth County, officials said. According to the outage map for Jersey Central Power & Light, 1,172 customers in Wall Township and 920 customers in Belmar lost service as of 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Apr. 16. Jersey Central Power & Light is planning to trim trees to protect more than 3,400 miles of power lines across the Garden State, officials said. More than 6,200 homes and businesses in Toms River and Lakewood were without power early Monday, Aug. 21 after a substation fire, authorities said.
