ICE Nabs Man Convicted Of Sex Crimes In Jackson: Authorities
A Mexican man previously convicted of a sexual offense was arrested by immigration enforcement earlier this month in Jackson, officials announced on Thursday, April 17. Ramon Cruz, who was living in the United States illegally, was apprehended on Tuesday, April 8 by Immigration and Customs Enforcement Officers and FBI Newark, federal authorities said. Cruz was found guilty last May of criminal sexual conduct in Ocean County Superior Court, ICE officials said. He remains in ICE custody, officials said.

Live-In Nanny Shook, Tossed Two Infants: Jackson PD
A 58-year-old live-in nanny was arrested and charged last month for abusing two 7-week-old twin infants in Jackson, authorities said. A father reported his wife observed their nanny, who was not identified by police, shaking, tossing and improperly handling their newborn babies, Jackson police said. The babies were taken to a pediatrician for treatment and then moved to a nearby hospital for evaluation, police said. The parents were able to provide video evidence of the nanny’s abuse and she was arrested at the family ‘s residence, police said.

Hurricane Ida: Up To 6 Inches Of Rain Expected In NJ, PA
Hurricane Ida is sparing the region of her wrath -- mostly. New Jersey and Pennsylvania are expected to get several inches of rain this week from the Category 4 hurricane that hit the Louisiana coast Sunday, meteorologists say. The remnant low of Ida will pass through New Jersey and parts of Eastern Pennsylvania Wednesday afternoon into Thursday morning, the National Weather Service reports.
