A driver who was knocked cold when a rock crashed through his windshield on Route 80 reportedly collected $750,000 in insurance money. No one ever identified the owner of the dump truck responsible for the rock that severely injured Brian Lapinski, 48, of Hamburg, as he drove his boss's Ford F-150 on the westbound highway near the Rockaway Mall. Lapinski was hospitalized with severe facial injuries. 13-Year-Old Girl Dies In Sussex County House Fire
A 13-year-old girl died in a Sussex County house fire Friday night, authorities confirmed. Firefighters responded to the Nestor Street home in Franklin around 10 p.m., where the girl's body was recovered after the fire had been put out, Franklin Borough police said. More than $1,100 had been raised on a GoFundMe for the family as of Saturday morning. The 13-year-old victim was identified by the campaign founder as Heaven Davenport. PREVIOUS STORY: A North Jersey mom is pleading with the public to help locate her teen daughter, who went missing from their Hamburg home in the early morning hours. Authorities: Off-Duty North Jersey Officer Shot, Killed By Juvenile In Deer Hunting Accident
A 38-year-old off-duty police officer was shot and killed Tuesday when a juvenile accidentally fired off a weapon while the pair were hunting in Sussex County, Daily Voice has learned. Hamburg police officer Jason Franco, of Montague, was deer hunting near Havens and Lott roads in Wantage around 12:30 p.m. when the incident occurred, according to local and state police. A 21-year-old New Jersey man was charged with stabbing and seriously injuring a 14-year-old boy at Sussex County's Gingerbread Castle in what police are calling a love triangle dispute. The man, later identified as Steven Rogers, attacked the teen in a fight over a former Gingerbread Castle employee on Dec. 3, Hamburg Police Lt. Jason Tangorra said. Tropical Storm Isaias wreaked havoc across North Jersey Tuesday, leaving more than 1.3 million homes and businesses without power. The worst part? Restoration could take days, Gov.
