Crash Closes Route 27 In Metuchen Route 27 (Middlesex Avenue) at Grove Avenue was to temporarily remain closed Monday for an investigation of a morning crash, Metuchen police said. They said a survey worker was struck by a hit-and-run driver in a white vehicle and advised motorists to avoid the area. Initial unconfirmed reports said a person was struck by around 9:15 a.m. and that a vehicle fled the scene.
