Nearly $6 million in federal infrastructure money will go toward the redevelopment of the waterfront including a new Ferry Terminal in Carteret, federal and local officials announced on Wednesday, June 26. U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg unveiled $1.8 billion for 148 projects nationwide under the Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant program. $13M Pedestrian Tunnel Will Connect Two Sides Of Long Branch: Rep. Pallone
A $13.2 million grant to build a pedestrian tunnel will connect two sides of Long Branch at the train station, federal officials said Wednesday, March 1. The North Jersey Coast Line railroad tracks have divided Long Branch since 1875. A concrete barrier blocks convenient access to the eastbound and westbound platforms of the train station as well as stores, restaurants, and medical care facilities located on opposite sides of the train tracks. Central Jersey Ferry To Manhattan Gets $5M Federal Boost
A $5 million federal grant to build a new ferry terminal in Middlesex County has been approved, officials said. Ferries would run between Raritan Bay and downtown Manhattan and be within walking distance of NJ Transit rail service.
