Police Obtain Cell Tracking Data For Gabby Petito As Search Targets Park
Police investigating the disappearances of 22-year-old New York native Gabby Petito and her boyfriend, Brian Laundrie, have obtained some cell phone tracking data for them, according to a brand-new report. Authorities are meanwhile searching a national park in Wyoming for Petito, who went missing while traveling across the country in her van with Laundrie, both of whom are from the hamlet of Blue Point in Suffolk County. A car thief drove the wrong way on Route 3 before police caught him in Lyndhurst, authorities said. East Rutherford police broke off a pursuit when Christian Diaz, 34, Newark drove the Ford SUV west in the eastbound lanes of Route 3 just after midnight Saturday. Hearing their alert, Lyndhurst Sgt. Police in Cherry Hill are searching for a man who pulled over a woman while impersonating police and tried grabbing her by her neck. The man was in a white Ford van with red and blue LED warning lights in the grill and rear doors. The woman said he pulled her over on Aug. 16 around 1:05 p.m. on Route 38. A 61-year-old van driver died and 14 passengers were injured in a crash Wednesday morning on Route 24 in Morris County, authorities confirmed. A 2000 Ford E350 passenger van was heading eastbound when it veered off the right side of the road, struck a guardrail and overturned around 10:15 a.m. near milepost 2, New Jersey State Police Trooper Charles Marchan said.
