A vandal who was chased down by Port Authority police at the George Washington Bridge bus station was carrying a loaded gun, authorities said. Justice D. Velez, 20, of the Bronx was vandalizing a card payment machine when he saw the officers coming and took off, said Lenis Valens, a Port Authority spokeswoman. Velez tossed a small backpack as he led Officers Johan Quinde, Eric Arroyo, Frank DiMaggio and Jubil Oommen on a foot chase that ended on the upper roadway of the Washington Heights station, Valens said. A trio of Passaic County sheriff’s sergeants were justified in shooting a man who’d pulled a gun and pointed it directly at them following a foot chase in Paterson, a state grand jury has found. A gunshot detection sensor brought city police and sheriff’s officers to Park Avenue near Straight Street shortly after 1 a.m. on May 23, 2020. Brick PD: Hit-Run Driver Caught With Heroin After Foot Chase
A 33-year-old man from Ocean County faces multiple drug charges after a hit-and-run crash led to a foot chase and his arrest, authorities said. Timothy Gandy of Brick was charged with obstruction, possession of heroin, manufacturingdistributing heroin, possession of paraphernalia and receiving stolen property, Brick police said on Thursday. Another driver called police about 9 p.m. on Aug. 3 about a collision on the Garden State Parkway, Brick police said.
