New Jersey residents are bracing for a cold and windy day on Tuesday, Jan. 7, with high temperatures barely reaching freezing across the state, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Mount Holly.

New Jersey hospitals are among the safest in the nation, according to the fall 2024 Hospital Safety Grade report from The Leapfrog Group.

A 39-year-old Flemington field hockey coach was arrested on Thursday, March 28, and charged with sending one of his players, a 17-year-old girl, sexually explicit texts, authorities said.
Brett Clay, a travel field hockey coach employed by Centercourt Field Hockey in Mount Olive, exchanged the text messages with the teen, a Bridgewater resident, Somerset County Prosecutor John McDonald said.

The National Weather Service has released snow totals from the latest winter storm.
In New Jersey, the most amount of snow from the Friday, Jan. 19 storm appears to have fallen in Hopewell Township (Cumberland County) and Mount Royal (Gloucester County), where 6.5 inches of snow were reported.
Atlantic County: Dorothy, a section of Weymouth, got 6.4 inches, the most amount of snow across Atlantic County. Six inches fell in Atlantic City, 5.6 in Mullica Township, 5.5 in Mays Landing, and on average, between 2 and 6 inches across the county.

An 18-year-old was walking on the sidewalk of Route 202 when he was struck and killed by a Nissan that veered off the roadway over the weekend, authorities said.
Bedminster Township Police responded to the crash on Route 202 near Elm Street in Bedminster around 6:10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23, the department said.

A 50-year-old man was assaulted and killed in a Central Jersey driveway by a man helping him move, authorities said.
Samuel C. Coggins, 30, of Flemington, has been charged with murder in the death of Augustine Garcia, of Manville, Thursday, July 14, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald said.
Coggins was helping Garcia and another resident move from a home on North 12th Avenue in Manville when Coggins assaulted Garcia in the driveway just before 3 p.m., Mcdonald said.

Busted: DUI Driver Had More Than 450 Bags Of Heroin In Hunterdon County Stop, Police Say
A 24-year-old Middlesex County woman was found with more than 450 bags of heroin when she was pulled over for driving under the influence in Hunterdon County, authorities said.
Holly Saeger, of New Brunswick, was stopped by Patrolman Gregory Zytko in Flemington around 11 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, local police said in a Friday release.
More than 450 bags of suspected heroin, as well as prescription medications and drug paraphernalia, were found in Saeger’s vehicle following a “positive indication” from K9 Kita, police said.
The heroin had a street value of approximately $4,000, police said. …
