A South Brunswick family is safe after escaping a fire that destroyed their home. South Brunswick police responded at 7:45 p.m. Saturday to a report of a home on fire at 4 Beryl Court in the Kendall Park section of the Township. Upon arrival, officers and firefighters observed heavy flames at the rear of the home. The homeowner said he was able to get his wife, two sons, and pets out of the home before police arrived. Sixteen people from eight different families were displaced and five responders were injured by a fire that swept through Somerville's downtown on Tuesday, June 4, officials said. Firefighters responded to West Main Street for the four-alarm blaze just after 2:30 p.m., the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office said. 'Devastating' Fire Rips Through Central Jersey Seafood Restaurant Five Months After Opening
A Middletown seafood restaurant suffered a "devastating" fire on Memorial Day, less than six months after it opened. Sirens Seafood posted on Facebook that the fire ripped through the building on Route 36 on Monday, May 27. The restaurant in the Leonardo section of Middletown was closed and no one was injured. Explosion In Sayreville
An explosion in Sayreville injured one person and left some residents without power, police said. The explosion occurred about noon on Friday, May 24 near Main Street and Sayreville Boulevard, police said in a release. Sayreville police said a related fire was under control. Main Street was closed between Sayreville Blvd South and MacArthur Avenue. According to JCP&L, 4,300 customers were without power. There was no ETA on power restoration.

Truck Bursts Into Flames Near Route 287
Multiple fire departments descended on Somerset County on Friday, May 3, after a tractor trailer caught fire, sending plumes of smoke into the sky. Firefighters responded to Union Avenue near Route 287 in Finderne and were able to extinguish the tractor trailer fire along with three additional cars on the trailer, the Finderne Fire Department said on Facebook. A tractor trailer was engulfed in flames in Finderne. Finderne Fire Department Facebook Manville EMS and the Somerset County Haz-Mat team also responded, firefighters said. There were no reports of any injuries.
