Ring Member Admits Snatching $1.5M Worth Of High-End Vehicles In NJ, Rockland, CT, Long Island
The last of four men caught stealing more than $1.5 million worth of luxury cars in New Jersey, Rockland County, Long Island and Connecticut took a guilty plea on Thursday, federal authorities announced.
Like his pals, Malik Baker, 29, of Vauxhall, NJ, took a deal from the government, pleading guilty in federal court in Newark on Oct. 19 to conspiring to transport stolen vehicles in interstate commerce and receiving a stolen vehicle that had crossed state lines after being stolen.
U.S. District Judge Esther Salas scheduled Baker's sentencing for March 7, 2024.

NJ Man Who Cashed Dead Brother's Social Security Checks For 16 Years Heads To Federal Prison
An Essex County man who collected $237,000 in Social Security benefits for a brother who’d actually been dead for 16 years is headed to federal prison.
Silvano Chable, 54, of Irvington, applied for the benefits in 2000 on behalf of his brother, who’d been paralyzed in a car crash, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said.
His brother collected checks for 10 months before dying in May 21, 2001, the U.S. attorney said.
Rather than notify the Social Security Administration, Chable continued collecting – and cashing – the monthly benefit checks until late 2017, Sellinger said.

Winner: Powerball Lottery Player Takes Home $50K In Central Jersey
A Powerball player in Central Jersey won $50,000, according to state Lottery officials.
The winning ticket matched four of the five white balls and the Power Ball drawn on Monday, Sept. 25.
The ticket was sold in Middlesex County at Welsh Farms, 1530C Oak Tree Rd., Iselin.
There were two other $50,000 winners in Essex and Warren counties.
The winning numbers for the Monday, Sept. 25, drawing were: 10, 12, 22, 36, and 50. The Red Power Ball number was 04. The Power Play was 2X.
The Powerball jackpot rolls to $835 million for the next drawing to be held on Wednesday, Sept. 27.

A lottery player from Ocean County split the $770,218 Jersey Cash 5 jackpot.
Two lucky tickets matched all five numbers drawn on Tuesday, Sept. 19.
Each ticket is worth $385,109.
The winning numbers were: 06, 11, 14, 17 and 20 and the XTRA number was: 04.
The retailers will receive a bonus check for $2,000 for each winning ticket sold.

22,000+ NJ Residents Without Power, Severe Thunderstorm Watch Remains In Effect
Thousands of New Jersey residents were without power after a round of powerful afternoon storms swept through the region.
The National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for much of the region through 11 p.m., and that comes after a round of quarter-sized hail and gusty winds.
As of 5:25 p.m., the following areas were without power:
