Responders rescued a woman who passed out on the Palisades while hiking with her teenage son above the Hudson River – one of two cliffside saves and a water rescue that occurred hours apart near the New Jersey/New York border. The woman was “diabetic, exhausted, dehydrated and vomiting” when Palisades Interstate Parkway police found her and her 15-year-old son shortly after 2 p.m. Sunday in the area of the Great Stairs more than 150 feet above the river in Alpine, PIPPD Sgt. Driver Who Thought He Hit Animal On PIP Struck, Killed When He Gets Out To Check
A driver who thought he'd struck a small animal with his minivan on the Palisades Interstate Parkway was struck and killed after he got out to check, authorities said. Passengers told responding officers that the Brooklyn driver stopped his 2014 Toyota Sienna on the northbound side right before the New York state border in Alpine shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday, PIP Police Sgt. New Jersey's total presumed positive cases of coronavirus rose to a total of 29 Thursday, state officials said at a briefing. Most of those cases are in Bergen County (13), where a 16-year-old girl was hospitalized at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, state officials said.
