: Pedestrian Struck By Car, Seriously Injured In Somerset County
A pedestrian was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday morning in Somerset County, initial police reports say. The crash occurred on Grandview Road around 9:30 a.m., in Montgomery. A medevac was placed on standby but the victim apparently was transported by ambulance. Police Lt. Silvio Bet said details were forthcoming.

Bicyclist Struck, Airlifted After Mercer County Collision
Police, firefighters and EMS crews were called on a report of a bicyclist struck by a car in Mercer County, authorities said. The crash occurred Thursday afternoon on a curvy, wood-lined stretch of Bear Tavern Road near Maddock Road in Hopewell Township, initial reports said. A female bicyclist in her 30s may have suffered a head injury, according to an unconfirmed report. A medevac helicopter was requested to airlift her to an area hospital, reports said. Hillsborough Man Crushed To Death By Lawnmower
A 74-year-old Hillsborough man was crushed to death by a commercial lawnmower the weekend, authorities said. Police found John Levinski under the machine on the 400 block of Township Line and not breathing after neighbors called 911 just before 5 p.m., Hillsborough police said. The mower had been hoisted in the air by a cable that was attached to a Kubota tractor when the cable broke and the mower fell on Levinski, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The incident has been ruled accidental in nature.

ATV Rider Seriously Hurt In Monmouth County Crash
An unidentified ATV rider was seriously hurt on Tuesday evening, authorities said. Howell police and township emergency services responded about 7 p.m. on Tuesday to a crash in which a person crashed while riding a quad, police said. The crash occurred off of Tyrpak Road northbound near West Farms Road. Howell police officers located an injured man deep in the wooded area, they said. Fire Destroys Parish House Of Historic Jersey Shore Church
A fire destroyed the parish house of a historic Long Branch church, injured one firefighter and displaced five residents Easter Sunday. Flames erupted on the first floor of the Broadway facility -- originally the First Reformed Church of Long Branch -- and spread to the second level, NJ.com reports. The blaze was reported by neighbors around 6:25 p.m., bringing approximately 50 firefighters to the scene. A Bergen County man was charged with stealing nearly $100,000 from the Essex County emergency rescue squad that he presided over, authorities said. Jonathan Arredondo stole more than $75,000 from various Nutley Emergency and Rescue Squad accounts and ran up more than $30,000 in personal finances, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II, said Friday. UPDATE: Hackensack firefighters cut a driver from a vehicle after it was struck by a commuter train Wednesday morning, the second time in nine days that's happened in the city. First responders in Middletown were called Friday afternoon to a report of a life-threatening injury involving a front-end loader, authorities said. A Middletown Township DPW employee may have been struck by the heavy equipment, according to initial reports. Middlesex Borough firefighters quickly knocked down a restaurant/apartment fire early Wednesday that injured one tenant, authorities said. Truck Crash Jams Route 17
A driver escaped serious injury when a box truck crashed early Friday on Route 17 in Paramus. The driver got out under his own steam after the truck hit a pole and a tree, landing on its side on the northbound highway outside the Trader Joe's near the Midland Avenue exit shortly before 6:30 a.m. The right and center lanes were temporarily closed as a heavy duty wrecker righted and removed the truck. Traffic stretched for miles. All lanes were reported reopened at 8:44 a.m. Paramus police, firefighters and EMS responded.

Jack-Knifed Tractor-Trailer Jumps Median On Route 80
A tractor-tractor jackknifed and jumped the median on Route 80 in Paterson overnight Saturday. The mishap left the trailer on on side of the highway and part of the rig on the other part near westbound Exit 58 around midnight. Two lanes were temporarily closed on the eastbound side and one on the westbound. An ambulance took the driver to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening. Firefighters summoned a hazardous materials unit to tend to a fuel spill.
