Dems, GOP Investing Millions In NJ Gov Race As Poll Shows Tight Contest
The Democratic National Committee is ramping up its presence in New Jersey, adding $1.5 million its spending just as new polling shows the governor’s race remains a nail-biter.
On Tuesday, Sept. 16, the DNC announced its latest investment, bringing its total in New Jersey to $3 million this cycle, the most it has ever spent in the state during an off-year election. The Democrats said the money will fund organizers, voter outreach, and targeted efforts to win back Black, Latino, and Asian voters after Democrats lost ground in the 2024 elections.

Pirate's Booty Founder Declares Himself Mayor Of Small Long Island Village, Loses To Incumbent
Robert Ehrlich walked into Sea Cliff Village Hall like he owned the place, falsely declaring himself mayor and trying to fire the entire staff, officials said.
Days later, the Pirate's Booty founder lost the Sea Cliff, NY election to incumbent Elena Villafane.
The bizarre stunt unfolded at 9:44 a.m. on Monday, March 10, when Ehrlich and three associates—Jeff Knox, Arthur Liebold, and an unidentified man—marched into Village Hall and announced that he was now in charge, according to a statement from the Village of Sea Cliff (which is just under 2 square miles).

These Two New Jersey Counties Flipped From Red To Blue In 2020
As President Joe Biden cruised to victory in New Jersey in the 2020 presidential election, he got some help from two counties that went his way after voting for former President Donald Trump in 2016: Morris and Gloucester.
Morris County went to Biden, 51.14% to 46.90%, 153,881 votes to 141,134 votes. It was a remarkable turnaround for a county that hadn't voted Democrat at the presidential level since Lyndon Johnson defeated Barry Goldwater in 1964.
In 2016, Morris County voted for Trump, who defeated Clinton 126,071 votes to 115,249 votes, 49.72% to 45.46%.

Biden Raises $33M Since Debate, Admits To 'Poor Performance' At Murphy's Mansion
In a fundraising blitz, President Joe Biden's campaign for re-election has raised $33 million since last Thursday's debate, the bulk of that in New Jersey and New York, a spokesman said on Monday, July 1.
That total includes "grassroots" money from small donors, a campaign aide said.
Biden, 81, a Democrat, is being challenged by former President Donald Trump, 78, a Republican.
Biden attended two fund-raising events in East Hampton, NY, on Saturday afternoon followed by a Saturday evening fund-raiser hosted by New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy and his wife, Tammy, in Middletown.
