UPDATE: An ex-con killed a fellow Paterson resident with a shotgun blast to the chest during a dispute at his city smoke shop last weekend, authorities revealed Thursday. Calvin King, 47, shot Kyheem Clark, 34, at the shop near the corner of East Main and Hillman streets shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday, May 6, with a shotgun he wasn’t allowed to possess, they said. A Facebook video recorded by a civilian was included in recordings released Wednesday by the New Jersey Attorney General's Office as part of a required investigation into the fatal shooting last month of a Paterson man by a city police detective. Paterson Man Charged In 2019 Shooting
Detectives charged a 22-year-old Paterson man with a shooting five months ago. Alex Nieves was charged with attempted murder, resisting arrest and weapons offenses following his arrest by city police Friday, authorities said. The 28-year-old victim was hospitalized after being struck by gunfire on Rosa Parks Boulevard between Putnam and Lyon streets the morning of Dec. 5, 2019. Detectives identified Nieves as the shooter. They stopped his car Friday night on Totowa Avenue in Paterson, but he kept driving, crashing in the area of East Main Street, before police seized him.
