A 49-year-old Central Jersey man is facing charges in Bergen County for using counterfeit money at the same business multiple times, said authorities who say they also found him with heroin. Shawn Beeks, of Carteret, passed a counterfeit $100 bill at a business located in the 500 block of New York Avenue, Lyndhurst Police Detective Lt. Vincent Auteri said. Florida Man Arrested With Counterfeit Cash On Jersey Shore: Police
Several stores within Jackson Premium Outlets mall called the police to report two men attempting to pass counterfeit money. Jackson police were able to locate one of the suspects, they said. While pursuing the suspect on Tuesday, Nov. 8, police allegedly observed the suspect ripping up fake bills and throwing them to the ground. A convicted counterfeiter from Philadelphia must spend the next five years in federal prison for printing $235,000 worth of fake $100 bills that he and a crew circulated in Virginia, authorities said. Hollis Forteau, 38, formerly of Willingboro, NJ, already had an extensive criminal history when federal investigators arrested him for printing Benjamin Franklin and other $100 images onto bleached dollar bills that he distributed to at least six associates. Homeland Security Agents, Local Police Bust Brick Resident, 71, With Gun Silencers
Federal Homeland Security agents joined Brick Township police in arresting a local man on weapons and counterfeit money charges. Lawrence Turbett, 71, was arrested at his home in the Conway Towers Housing Complex after detectives learned that a package containing a silencer was being shipped to an address in Brick, local police said. A search of his residence found the package, as well as additional silencers and an undisclosed amount of counterfeit U.S. currency, police said. The U.S. Secret Service was notified. Fake $100 Bill Passed For Gas In South Brunswick
A clerk at a Middlesex County gas station mistakenly accepted a phony $100 bill that was intended to be used in movies, authorities said. Police on Monday tweeted a photo of the front and back of the fake currency, which has the words -- “For Motion Picture Use Only” -- printed on both sides and reportedly was spent by an unidentified man from Montgomery.
