HEROES: A seizure suffered by an epileptic child on a jammed New Jersey Turnpike had her stranded mom praying for a pre-Christmas miracle. Sure enough, she got one. Vanessa Senquis of Bayonne was taking her 4-year-old daughter Leilani to Hackensack University Medical Center after she’d fallen down some steps and cut her forehead. Mercer County Firefighters Rescue Autistic Child From Storm Drain, Reports Say
Police, firefighters and EMS crews responded to a report of a child in a storm drain, authorities said. First responders from several towns in Mercer County were called about 5 p.m. Tuesday to 24 Point Court in Lawrence Township, reports said. An unconfirmed report said the missing child was an autistic girl about 9 years old. A robotic camera from Hamilton Township was being used to assist in a search about 15 feet from the surface of the drain, reports said. : Atlantic City Police, Good Samaritans Rescue Stranded Swimmers From Ocean
In separate incidents this week, Good Samaritans and first responders have rescued numerous children from drowning along the Jersey Shore, authorities said. Atlantic City police posted video footage of one of the rescues here on Facebook. At 5 p.m. on Friday, Tourism District Unit officers responded to the Dr. Martin Luther King Boulevard beach for reports of several young swimmers in the ocean in distress.
