Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco on Thursday closed Ramapo Valley County Reservation, Campgaw Mountain Reservation and Darlington County Park in Mahwah to the public during the COVID-19 pandemic as of 8 a.m. Friday. Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco self-quarantined on Tuesday, nine days after hosting a news conference in Teaneck with, among others, Holy Name Medical Center CEO Michael Maron, who tested positive for COVID-19. A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainee being held in the Bergen County Jail tested positive for coronavirus, authorities said. The 31-year-old Mexican national was quarantined and receiving care, ICE officials said in a release Tuesday. Bergen County Jail Corrections Officer Tests Positive For Coronavirus, 7 Others Self-Quarantine
A corrections officer at the Bergen County Jail tested presumptive positive for the coronavirus, leading seven co-workers to self-quarantine as well, Sheriff Anthony Cureton said Thursday. Fifteen inmates at the jail were placed on quarantine, as well, the sheriff said. Stop & Shop stores have reduced their hours and will be setting aside times for older customers to shop in safety amid growing COVID-19 concerns. Schools in all 75 Bergen County districts will shut down indefinitely at the close of Friday's school day in a bid to stem the spread of the coronavirus, County Executive Jim Tedesco said Thursday night. Two of the newest presumptive positive cases of coronavirus in Monmouth County have a common link to a senior program, officials said.
