Heavy flooding caused by fast-moving storms brought reports of "cars in the water" in Middlesex and Monmouth counties, authorities said. At about 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, several people were rescued from a vehicle in water in Woodbridge Township near its border with Perth Amboy, first responders confirmed. The Perth Amboy community is rallying for the family of a 17-year-old boy who drowned in the Raritan Bay Thursday. A GoFundMe intended to help fund a funeral service for Johnny Vasquez had raised $740 as of Friday afternoon. Firefighters Fight Apartment House Blaze At Carteret Gardens
Firefighters and EMS crews responded to an apartment building fire Thursday afternoon. A fire was reported at Carteret Gardens Apartments at 25 Wedgewood Drive shortly after noon, authorities said.
