An Englewood motorist narrowly escaped serious injury — or worse — when he was dragged nearly 20 feet onto Route 4 by a pair of carjackers who sped off in his Range Rover, authorities said. A beloved local North Jersey gas station owner died after a battle with COVID-19, those who knew him said. Anthony Balloutine, 42, of Totowa, died on Nov. 23 after several weeks of fighting COVID-19 and pneumonia, according to a GoFundMe launched for his family. Some Blame COVID: Paterson Man Gunned Down, City Homicides Break 30-Year High
A man found shot dead in a Paterson gas station parking lot Wednesday became the 23rd victim gunned down in the Silk City this year. The body of Michael Richardson, 33, was found on the ground of the BP station at Broadway and Summer Street, in a neighborhood rife with drugs and gangs, shortly after 3 p.m., authorities said.
