Diaz of Long Valley. Police ID Bicyclist, 44, Struck, Killed In Central Jersey Crash
Police have identified a 44-year-old bicyclist from Union County killed in a weekend crash in Middlesex Borough, authorities said. Darwin O. Mestanza Rivera, of Scotch Plains, died in the crash at 6:57 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, Middlesex Borough Police Chief Matthew P. Geist said. Mestanza Rivera was struck from behind by a Jeep Patrol as he rode west on South Avenue near the corner of Howard Street, Geist said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, he said. Boy, 10, Hospitalized After Being Struck By Car While Cycling In Mercer County: Police
A 10-year-old boy was rushed to a nearby hospital after being struck by a car while riding a bicycle in Mercer County on Wednesday, Sept. 14, police confirmed. The boy was on his way to school when he was struck near 150 Pond Rd. in Robbinsville Township around 8 a.m., Police Chief Mike Polaski told DailyVoice.com. A teenage bicyclist died after being struck by a car in Atlantic County, authorities said. The crash happened at about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27. The 15-year-old boy's name has not been released. Samia Youseff-Attala, 69, of Egg Harbor Township, was driving south on Franklin Boulevard when she struck the bicyclist heading east on Loraine Avenue, Pleasantville police said. A bicyclist had to be airlifted from a crash scene on the Jersey Shore, according to developing and unconfirmed reports. The juvenile purportedly fell off his bike, causing serious injuries, at about 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 21 on the 1700 block of Union Ave. in Hazlet, initial reports said. Bogota Boy Struck By Sedan Gets New Bike Following Daily Voice Story
A Bogota boy who was hospitalized after he was hit by a car on his bicycle got a new pair of wheels thanks to the kindness of fellow residents. After reading about the 14-year-old boy's mishap on Daily Voice, borough resident Sherry Solomov headed up an effort that raised nearly $800, Bogota Police Sgt. Geoffrey Cole said. It was enough to get the boy a new bike and lock, as well as a gift card, Cole said. Fifty or so people in all donated, he said.
