Police Rescue 83 Cats From Jersey Shore Home
Police in Brick said they rescued 83 cats and three dogs from a home in the township. On Thursday evening, May 4, Brick police said they had received a call from a resident on Mantoloking Road requesting police assistance for "an excessive number of cats inside the residence." Police requested assistance from Berkeley Hazmat as well as Brick Township Fire District #1. Once conditions were determined to be safe, authorities began removing the animals, police said. 22 Rabbits Plucked From Jersey Shore Backyard
Too soon for Punxsutawney Phil. Instead, Toms River police plucked 22 rabbits from a backyard and shed. On Sunday, Jan. 29, Officer James Colline responded to Harrison Road on a referral from Toms River Animal Control. Colline checked the property and found the rabbits on the property. Due to the condition of the shed, Berkeley Hazmat was called to assist in removing the rabbits, police said. The investigation is ongoing at this time. Two women who call themselves "Crazy Rescue Ladies" on social media have been charged after authorities found nearly 180 dogs and cats living in unsanitary conditions in their Jersey Shore puppy mill last week police said. Police ID Toms River Woman Who Died After Slamming Head-On Into Truck In Fiery Crash
A 52-year-old woman died after crashing into a truck head-on Monday in Toms River, police said. Claudine Silverstri was heading west on Route 571 in the left lane when she suddenly drifted into the right and struck a curb and guardrail near Oak Ridge Parkway around 7 a.m., a witness told police. The vehicle then veered to the left and entered the oncoming traffic lanes, where Silvestri collided head-on with a sign truck before her vehicle caught fire, police said. A suspected tornado ripped through a Jersey Shore town Thursday night, damaging 35 homes, several boats and injuring several people, police said. Three 9-1-1 calls came in at 9:22 p.m. in Long Beach Island, reporting roofs ripped off multiple houses and downed utility poles.
