Pedestrian Struck, Killed On Jersey Shore: Police
A 78-year-old woman from Pennsylvania was struck and killed by a Jersey Shore motorist, authorities said.
On Monday, June 12 at 5:10 p.m., the woman from Springbrook Township, PA was crossing Bay Avenue at the intersection of 9th Street in Beach Haven, police said.
The driver of the vehicle, an 82-year-old man from Venice, FL, was traveling north and had a green light, police said.
No charges had been filed.

Jersey Shore Man Admits Leaving DUI Crash Scene, Assaulting Officer: Prosecutor
A 43-year-old man from Ocean County has pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of a crash with injuries, and other charges, authorities said.
On Monday, Aug. 8, John Madden, of Little Egg Harbor Township, entered a guilty plea to knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in serious bodily injury and driving under the influence in an April 8, 2020, incident in Long Beach, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.

Everything Must Go: LBI Department Store Hand's Shutters After 70 Years
After nearly 70 years in business, a highly popular Jersey Shore department and convenience store plans to close this spring.
Hand’s, on Long Beach Island, is set to close for good in early April. However, an official closing date for the store at 1310 Long Beach Blvd., in Beach Haven has not been set.
The owner of Hand’s is reportedly retiring and sold the property, according to media reports, which said the store is in “Everything Must Go” mode, with closeout markdowns on products.
