Joe Williams is accused of shooting 37-year-old Paige multiple times around 1:50 a.m. Sept. 26, in Fernwood Court, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said.

Paige was transported from the scene to a nearby hospital with multiple gunshot wounds, where he was pronounced dead.

Williams was arrested on Sept. 28, and charged with one count of first-degree murder and one count of second-degree possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose.

Community members mourned Paige's loss on social media.

The shooting does not appear to be a random act, police said.

The investigation is active and continuing. Anyone with information or surveillance footage of the area is asked to call Detective Raymond Quick of the New Brunswick Police Department at (732) 745-5200 or Detective Linda Infusino of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-4340.
