Bicyclist, 55, Killed In Crash Near Jersey Shore Intersection: Prosecutors
A Long Branch man died after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle in West Long Branch, authorities said. The 55-year-old man was killed in the crash on Saturday, Nov. 30, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said in a news release. West Long Branch police responded to the crash near the intersection of Route 36 and Monmouth Road shortly after 9 p.m. Officers found the unnamed man and paramedics rushed him to Monmouth Medical Center. Doctor Killed In Philadelphia Crash
The bicyclist who died in a crash on Wednesday, July 17, was a doctor at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, according to police and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia website. Barbara Ann Friedes, 30, was struck from behind by a 2018 Volkswagen on the 1800 block of Spruce Street around 7 p.m., Philadelphia police wrote in a release. The Volkswagen then hit three parked cars before coming to a rest, police continued. A New Jersey police officer who has been on the force for just under a decade has been charged in a hit-and-run crash that critically injured an 18-year-old bicyclist last month, authorities said.
