A New Jersey mother of two drowned while saving a struggling girl from the Delaware River one day before what would have been her 34th birthday, according to authorities and a fundraiser for her family. Priscila Alvares Pereira Dos Santos, 33, of Delran, disappeared beneath the water at Amico Island Park on Monday, Aug. 24, after helping the girl reach shore, Delran police said. A popular supermarket chain is warning shoppers to check their refrigerators after a recall involving prepared foods was elevated to the highest possible risk level. NJ Man Shot, Killed: Prosecutor
A 25-year-old Lawnside man was fatally shot on Friday, Aug. 21, authorities said. At 5:50 p.m., officers responded to a shooting at West Hodges Avenue and found the victim, George Rivera, had been transported via private vehicle to Cooper University Hospital, Camden County Prosecutor Grace MacAulay and Lawnside Police Captain William Plenty said. He was pronounced dead later that evening, authorities said. The investigation is ongoing, authorities said.

A longtime New Jersey bakery worker remembered for her artistic talents and love of family has died less than one year after a battle with cancer. Adriana Gonzalez Martinez, 62, of Parlin, died at home surrounded by her family on Friday, Aug. 21, according to her obituary on the Carmen F. Spezzi Funeral Home website.
