Man Found Dead On Jersey Shore Beach, Police Investigating
A man was found dead on a beach in Cape May County, authorities said. Wildwood Crest police responded to the beach near Myrtle Road at around 6:20 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, the department said in a news release. The 911 caller was performing CPR on the unconscious man when police arrived. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of his death was pending an autopsy. A horse that died while pulling a carriage of tourists in Cape May was likely killed by cardiac arrest or a blood clot, according to a necropsy. Less than 12 hours after responding to a drowning a Crystal Lake, dive teams and emergency responders from across Ocean County were called to a similar incident. Firefighters rescued a woman who was clinging to a tree after she and her dog fell in Brick Township, officials said. Herbertsville firefighters responded to the scene on Winding River Road at around 6:44 p.m. on Monday, June 17, the fire company said in a Facebook post. Crews found the woman and her dog fell 10 to 15 feet down an embankment. The woman was hanging onto a tree to prevent falling any further. Authorities have released additional information in the double shooting Wednesday, June 12 in Carteret. Two females were found having suffered gunshot wounds on Roosevelt Avenue around 9 a.m., and were airlifted to area hospitals, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Carteret Police Chief Dennis McFadden said. As of 2:30 p.m., one victim had died and the other remains critical, Ciccone and McFadden said. A 38-year-old ex-convict was arrested with a loaded assault rifle slung over his shoulder, authorities said. Trenton police said they found Joseph Moore walking along the 100 block of Turpin St. with the rifle and a high-capacity magazine containing 50 rounds of ammunition on Monday, June 10 at about 5:20 p.m. He was charged with several weapons offenses.
