203 Passengers Stranded After US Cruise Ship Ends Global Voyage Due To Fuel Costs
More than 200 passengers have been left stranded after a residential cruise halted its global voyage, turning a floating-home dream into an uncertain search for somewhere to stay.
The Villa Vie Odyssey is docked in Sihanoukville, Cambodia. Its Florida-based operator, Villa Vie Residences, announced the suspension Tuesday, Oct. 27, citing fuel costs it said had become unsustainable.
The 642-foot ship carried 203 passengers, predominantly Americans, and 156 crew members, according to NBC News. Those onboard have been instructed to disembark, with no confirmed date for the voyage to resume.
