The crash occurred at 9:55 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10 on Route 670 in Fairfield, according to New Jersey State Police. The driver of a westbound vehicle veered off the road and struck two trees, State Police said. Hartley Pernell, 60, of Bridgeton, died of his injuries.
