Atlantic City Councilman Charged With Child Abuse, Assault: Report
Atlantic City Councilman MD Hossain Morshed has been charged with child abuse and simple assault stemming from an arrest earlier this month, NJ Advance Media reports citing municipal records. Details in Morshed's Sept. 1 arrest were not immediately released. The incident was being investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. Council President George Tibbitt could not immediately be reached for comment. A 39-year-old Mays Landing man pleaded guilty to repeatedly sexually assaulting a girl and filming it, authorities said. Christian R. Navarette of Mays Landing entered the pleas to aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child on Thursday, Aug. 19, according to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office. A 20-year-old Somerset County man was arrested for sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl he met online, authorities said. The victim on July 26 told police she met an unknown male, later identified as Lenic S. Galvin, of Bound Brook, on social media before he arranged for the victim to be brought to his home, where he sexually assaulted her, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald said.
