Josh Lanier started his reporting career in high school for his local newspaper. Many — many — years later, he’s still chasing leads for compelling stories. During his time writing for newspapers, magazines, and online publications, he’s covered everything from murderers to mommy bloggers, but his most interesting story is always the next one.

Birthday Party Fire Kills 2 Girls In Newark (Update) The bodies of two severely burned girls ages 6 and 8 were found at a Newark home following a fire over the weekend, officials said. Witnesses told detectives that there had been a birthday party for one of the girls on the second floor of the home and they'd been playing with fire near a couch in the hallway of the Eckert Street home on Saturday, Oct. 20, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said. Fairfield County Town Needs Your Help To Fix Spotty Cell Service After years of complaints from residents about bad and spotty cellphone service, one town is doing something about it.  New Canaan officials worked with the network diagnostics company Ookla earlier this summer to determine where cell phone service needed to be improved.
