A grand jury indicted a 71-year-old Franklin Township man on murder charges on Wednesday, Aug. 26, after authorities say he strangled his 40-year-old daughter, who had been disabled and nonverbal since birth
At 6:16 a.m. on Thursday, June 11, Dennis Hall called Franklin Township police and said his daughter, Devin Hall, 40, was not breathing, Gloucester County Prosecutor Andrew Johns said.

Alley Mills, 75, has revealed that she remained beside the body of her husband, actor and comedian Orson Bean, for about four hours after he was struck and killed by two vehicles in Venice, California. Bean was 91.

A longtime Bergen County building supply business is changing hands.
Kuiken Brothers Company has reached an agreement to acquire Paramus Building Supply, a family-owned business founded in 1951, the company announced on Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Kuiken Brothers currently has locations in Fair Lawn, Garfield, Midland Park, Ogdensburg, Roseland, Succasunna, and Wantage in New Jersey, as well as Warwick, NY. The Paramus (131 Route 17) and Bergenfield (42 Portland Ave.) additions will bring the family-owned company's network to 10 locations.

A performer whose unmistakable voice, wicked humor, and larger-than-life characters spanned stage, screen, and animation has died.
British actor and singer Tim Curry died late Tuesday, Aug. 25, at his Los Angeles home, TMZ first reported. He was 80. Police were called to the home late Tuesday, and no foul play was suspected, according to TMZ, which first reported the news.

Abused Dog Found With Open Wounds, Fly Infestation In New York: Authorities
A Long Island man was arrested after his dog was found infested with flies and suffering from open wounds, authorities said.
Cecilio Matthews, 50, of Bellport, was charged with several counts of animal cruelty under state and county laws, the Suffolk County SPCA said Wednesday, Aug. 26.
Investigators determined earlier in the month that Matthews had failed to care for his 10-year-old mutt, Seven, leaving the dog neglected in a yard, according to the SPCA.

Bergen County native Kristi Sabados died peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones following a battle with cancer on Sunday, Aug. 23, according to her obituary on the Becker Funeral Home website. She was 40 years old.
