Grieving NJ Mother Hopes Cancer Won't Kill Her Before Daughter's Murder Trial Begins
“Mommy, tomorrow is going to be the most painful day of your life, and then it’s going to get better.”
That’s what Maryrose Fealey told her mother, Janet Pizzelli, on Jan. 30, 2024, the day before Pizzelli was set to begin chemotherapy for breast cancer.
“Well, she was wrong,” Pizzelli said of her daughter’s words. “It didn’t get better.”
It got worse.
That same night, Maryrose was stabbed to death by David Shroitman, who followed her home from the gym and killed her in her vehicle, prosecutors said.

A 23-year-old man was arrested in Hoboken after allegedly punching a woman in the face and attacking bar staff outside a popular nightlife spot, police said.
Hoboken Police responded to Birch at 92 River St. around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26, following reports of an assault, according to Sgt. Robert Roman.
When officers arrived, they found New Jersey Transit Police and bar security struggling to subdue a man, later identified as Abraham Knowlton, 23, of Skillman, authorities said. Video of Knowlton's arrest was published by Transparency Bodycam.

A Clifton man was arrested for DWI after a five-car crash that left another driver seriously injured, police said.
Felix Gonzalez, 39, was taken into custody early Sunday, Feb. 23, after the crash at 2:11 a.m. near the intersection of Lexington Avenue and Highland Avenue, Clifton Police Lt. Robert Anderson said.
Two of the five vehicles involved were occupied, while three were parked, officials said. One adult male driver suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive, authorities said.

A Somerset County police chief was convicted of sexual misconduct toward his subordinates while on duty on Thursday, Feb. 13, authorities said.
Thomas Herbst, a 57-year-old Bridgewater chief and former police chief in Manville was convicted of official misconduct, sexual assault and criminal sexual contact, authorities said, State Attorney General Matthew Platkin said.

Dover Man Robbed Store: Denville PD
A 30-year-old Dover resident was arrested and charged with robbery on Saturday, Jan. 25 in Denville, authorities said.
At 1:49 p.m., officers responded to the Union Hill Shopping Center on a report of an armed robbery, Denville police said. The suspect, Raul Green, was found with a large wad of cash, which he had taken from a retail store, police said.
Green was ultimately arrested for robbery of the store and attempted robbery of additional stores, police said. No weapons were found on Green's person, police said.
This incident is still under investigation, police said.
