Two planes clipped each other at Newark Liberty International Airport Tuesday morning, March 3, authorities said.
At 10:20 a.m., While Singapore Airlines Flight 21 was pushing back from the gate, its right wing hit the tail of Spirit Airlines Flight 992, en route to Orlando, the Federal Aviation Administration said.
The incident occurred in an area where air traffic control does not manage aircraft and will be investigated, the FAA said.

A New Jersey man who admitted to sexually assaulting a woman passenger seated next to him on a United Airlines flight has been sentenced to six months of home confinement, authorities said.
Piyush Mathew, 31, of Robbinsville Township, must also serve five years of probation and register as a sex offender, the U.S. Attorney's Office said on Thursday, Aug. 1.
