Former UConn basketball standout Eric Cobb has been arrested in his mother's murder in Florida, officials announced Tuesday, Feb. 11. The 28-year-old former athlete was taken into custody after officers responded to a disturbing scene on 15th Street West in the Mid-Westside area, the sheriff's office said. An inmate serving time for the brutal Christmas morning murder of a Philadelphia woman has died in a Pennsylvania state prison, officials announced on Friday, Feb. 7. Josue Quino, 38, was found unresponsive in his cell at the State Correctional Institution at Somerset on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2025, according to Superintendent Kenneth Hollibaugh. A 45-year-old Plainfield man was convicted on Thursday, Feb. 6 of murdering his pregnant ex-girlfriend in 2021, authorities said. On Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021, Shakir Tyler fatally shot Tayeesa Webb, a 35-year-old Edison resident, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said. Tyler shot her after confronting her outside her residence, Ciccone said. Tyler was also convicted of unlawful possession of a handgun, Ciccone said. He faces up to life in prison when he is sentenced in May, Ciccone said.
